How to become an app tester

Five steps from application to your first test.

1

Apply in 5 minutes

Fill in a short form. Tell us your devices, what platforms you use, and your testing experience (none required). We review applications within 48 hours.

2

Complete a device verification

Once accepted, we verify your device(s) by asking you to install a sample app and confirm it runs. This ensures your device is compatible with the types of apps we test.

3

Pick available tests

Tests appear in your tester dashboard. Each test shows the app type, estimated duration, and required device/OS. Claim the ones that fit your setup.

4

Install, test, report

Install the app, follow the testing brief, and use our structured report form to document any bugs, crashes, or UX issues. Attach screenshots or recordings where relevant.

5

Complete your report

Submit your completed report. Our team reviews it and provides feedback to help you improve your testing quality over time.

At least 2 GB free space to install test apps and capture video recordings.

Experience

Not required. We have testers with no QA background who write excellent reports.

Tester FAQ

Do I need testing or coding experience?

No. We need people who use apps every day: not engineers. If you can clearly describe what went wrong, reproduce a bug, and take a screenshot, you have the skills needed.

What devices do I need?

You need at least one physical smartphone: Android or iPhone. Tablets, older devices, and low-end handsets are actually valuable to us because many developers only test on flagship devices.

How long does each test take?

Quick tests are 15–20 minutes. Standard tests are 30–45 minutes. Deep tests or accessibility reviews may take 60–90 minutes. The test brief tells you the estimated time before you claim a test.

Can I test apps in a language I don't speak?

Most tests require English-language UI testing. Some tests are specifically looking for testers in certain regions: for example, to test localization in French, German, or Portuguese. These are clearly labelled.

What if I find no bugs?

A clean report is a valid and valuable result. Developers need to know when an app works well too. You contribute for your time and thoroughness, not per bug found.

Can I work as a tester alongside a full-time job?

Yes. Most of our testers do this alongside other work. Tests are available any time, and you choose which ones to accept. There is no minimum monthly commitment.
